Sweet Summer Days
Workshop 1
Saturday,
August 21, 9:00 AM-12:00 PM
Sunny days, swimming holes, hours just to play, vacations near and far, country fairs, ice cream, picnics, outdoor concerts, and lots more adventures make summertime the best time of the year! In this sweet album full of pockets and fold outs and places for all your summer "stuff," you'll be able to record and remember the days that fly by so quickly. It's perfect boys or girls or even you!
Using fresh new products from October Afternoon, Jenni Bowlin, American Crafts, and more, we'll work our folding magic on the pages of this album so you can include all the photos and memorabilia that gives your album its own special personality.
Imagine...
one day you're cleaning
out the attic and discover a dusty box of long forgotten treasures.
Inside you find a sweet, small book full of stories and pictures of
a girl with simple dreams and delightful tales. It's a little tattered
and looks well-loved. Wouldn't that be an amazing find? Let's make that
book together and fill it with YOUR stories and pictures. Who is that
girl? Who has she become? Who does she hope to be? Of course, there
are so many other things you can use this darling album for, too!
Roses are red, violets are blue... Did you ever have an autograph album? It was fun to have your friends sign their name and write a silly little poem! This isn't actually an autograph album (unless you want it be) but a lovely display with two albums to show off your favorite photos of the people, places, and even things that have made an imprint, "an autograph," on your life. The albums can be displayed on the stand for a while and then replaced with new pictures so that you can rotate the albums with the seasons or new themes. You could make an album about the people of your life and another about the places of your life. You could also make a beautiful display with the pictures of gardens and scenery taken through the years.
Using some of my favorite products from 7gypsies, Jenni Bowlin, Tim Holtz Ideology, and more, we'll make one album full of techniques making page layouts and pockets and another small album with little pockets and pages to tuck your photos and treasures into.
(This project can be made without the stand, if desired. If you do not purchase the stand, you will need to purchase a refill pack of the photo stand vertical page protectors by 7gypsies and two binding rings. The refill pack #10082 contains 10 page protectors. The photo stand comes with 15 page protectors and the binding rings.)

More about Lauren....
Lauren is a self-taught Mixed Media Artist who lives outside of Atlanta, Georgia. She entered the craft industry after the birth of her first child. Memory Art, in particular scrapbooking, is where she developed her love for paper. She quickly became enthralled with Altered Art and Collage Art and, as a former librarian, was drawn to the art of bookmaking. As an imaginative craft designer, she works with a wide variety of craft company and paper arts manufacturers. Her books are full of earthy tones of color and texture. She creates art with her books. All the individual parts that are transformed into a book -- from the covers, to the stitching to the paper chosen to be signatures -- come together to sing a song. Each piece is chosen for the note and the harmony it brings to the music that is made.
After the birth of twin boys, Lauren decided to walk away from an academic career as an Epidemiologist with a degree from Harvard University to balance her new found love of life as a Mother and an Artist. As an imaginative craft designer, her work appears in national magazines.
Learn more about her and see her GORGEOUS work on her blog Everything Altered.

So we got an unexpected call from the 'scrapbook famous' Debby Schuh! She told us that she had stumbled across our store website and would love to come and teach a few workshops for us! I couldn't say yes quick enough. I mean, this is DEBBY SCHUH- she just got back from teaching at Creative Escape!
So Debby will be joining us on Friday November 13 and Saturday November 14 to teach 3 workshops at the store. There will be a limited amount of spaces available for each workshop so don't forget to call the store to reserve your spot!As a child, Debby's favorite books were the interactive ones with hidden flaps and pockets, and she designs her scrapbooks with those elements, too. Her classes feature paper-engineering techniques for "Wow!" moments and often use products in unexpected ways. Debby lives near Buffalo, New York, with her husband and two college-age sons. You can read more about her on her blog.

EXPAND!
We will open the doors to another 1300 square feet for our very first Sweet Memories STUDIO crop on Saturday, October 3. This will be an all day crop and you will DEFINITELY need to call me and reserve your space (we will max at 35 people on this day). We'll be serving up refreshments and inspiration all day long and into the wee hours of the morning I'm sure!
So what exactly is Sweet Memories Studio?
The Studio will give you a place to scrap when it's convenient for you! You can come and use our tools without having to make the investment in them yourself. You can socialize and learn from others that have your same passion (and maybe even share some of your own knowledge). You can spread out and knock out some great layouts, all the while leaving the dishes, and laundry, and everyday distractions behind. You can take some awesome classes from our ultra talented design team girls. Want a place to host a bridal or baby shower where each guest creates a page for the bride to be or expectant mother? You can do that too. We'll host little girls birthday parties and big girls birthday parties as well! Of course there will be a scheduled crop at least 3 times per month so you can meet up with all your scrapping buddies when you need your 'girl time' fix. We will have a recipe club, book club, card classes, stamping classes and lots of layout and altered item classes each month. There will be something to do at the Studio all the time!
Another perk of having more space is the ability to allow people to become members of the Studio so you can have 24 hour access to all of our tools. We know some of you guys are night owls or early birds and would love to be able to crop on your own schedule. Members will also receive the benefit of special class pricing and exclusive coupons and sales in the store. We will have more detailed information regarding membership requirements and benefits coming soon!
Workshop Tools that will be available to you:
1 Cricut Expression
1 Pink Breast Cancer Awareness Cricut Expression (with exclusive cartridge) *

Crops have been sold out at the store and because we only have a small
space for 8 we talked with the landlord and he's allowing us to rent
Take Delight's old space for crop nights. If we have enough
participation we may do this on a regular basis (think how much room
you'll have)!
Join us for a "Stay-cation" in Hawaii.... who needs sun and sand when you have cold drinks, fun friends, and tons of memories to scrap! Hope you can join us!
I believe we'll have plenty of room for anyone who wants to come but just in case we will probably limit it to 25.
$10 just like regular crops ;)
Remember you must call to save your spot!
See you there-

Spaces are filling quickly.... SEVERAL of you have told me you're interested in coming but to be fair- spaces are guaranteed on a paid basis. I promise you, you do NOT want to miss this.
AND as a reference point- one of our lovely design team members pointed a little something out to me.... there is a national chain scrapbook store that is doing a *12 hour crop* for National Scrapbook day and you would receive 2 meals and a scrap tote box (retail value $15) for $50. So she thinks (and I do too) that you are getting a great value by coming to SCRAP and the CITY!

Looks like you are from out of town so email me your address and I'll mail it out to you (or hold it at the store until you visit at Thanksgiving ;)
Thanks guys for participating.... you are all going to be so busy over the next few weeks. I'm always amazed at all the fun new things people come up with to make!
Last night the Holiday Showcase was FANTASTIC! I just want to brag on my Design Team for a minute. They really came through for me with tons of cute projects for last night. If you heard about all the things they are committed to outside of the store you would be amazed they have any free time left! I'm going to post all the pictures today and the schedule of when we'll be doing the different projects at the store. These are definitely an inexpensive way to create a few gifts QUICK!
Some of you may have noticed :) a camera in our midst..... The lady behind the lens was Mrs. Christy Dorsey. She has been a photographer in the Marietta/ Atlanta area and has recently moved to Carrollton and is establishing her business Beadale Photography here in Carrollton. She will be at the store on Saturday, December 6th to do portraits!
She took some BEAUTIFUL pictures last night...
We love to support other local businesses. Be sure to check out her blog from her website to see more photos from last night and book your appointment on the 6th early to get the time you need!
We appreciate all the business and encouragement everyone has shown us over the last few months. You just don't know how your kind words impact us on a daily basis when it gets stressful! I have truly loved every minute of business ownership so far and I know I will continue to because I have been blessed that you aren't just customers but FRIENDS!
